Description

Origin
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is a tree species native to tropical Africa, particularly the regions of Sudan and Mozambique. This species belongs to the Asparagaceae family. Also known as the Dragon Tree, this plant has a rich history and has been cultivated for centuries for various uses.

Characteristics

The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ is an air-purifying indoor plant characterized by its narrow leaves and tall growth. The leaves of the ‘Riki’ are shiny, dark green, and have a leathery texture. These leaves can reach up to 90 cm in length. The plant can grow up to 6 meters in height but generally remains smaller indoors. The ‘Riki’ plant rarely flowers, but when it does, it produces white flowers with a sweet fragrance.

Care

The Dracaena fragrans ‘Riki’ does not need much light and should be placed in a shaded spot in the home. Indeed, excessive sun exposure can damage the leaves. The plant requires regular watering, but the soil should dry out first between waterings to avoid root rot. Although the ‘Riki’ tolerates low air humidity, it is beneficial to occasionally mist the plant with water to increase humidity around the plant. It is also advisable to fertilize the plant once a month during the growing season.
