Origin
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Lemon Surprise’ has its roots originating from Africa, Central America, and Asia. Although the species is found in various parts of the world, it is most characteristic of tropical wooded regions.
Characteristics
The ‘Lemon Surprise’ has broad, shiny, green leaves with a yellow edge, giving the plant its unique appearance. The leaves slightly curl and gracefully bend outward. This variety of Dracaena fragrans grows relatively slowly, and under optimal conditions, this plant can reach a height of 1.80 meters.
Care
The ‘Lemon Surprise’ requires a slightly shaded location to thrive, but direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent leaf damage. Besides light, this plant is also quite tolerant regarding temperature and humidity. Watering should be moderate – only once every two weeks, or when the top layer of soil is dry to the touch. Overwatering should be avoided, as it can cause root rot. Lastly, the ‘Lemon Surprise’ requires minimal fertilization; a light dose of liquid fertilizer during the growing season is sufficient.
