The Dracaena fragrans ‘Lemon Lime’, also known as Dracaena, originates from West Africa. It is a popular member of the Asparagaceae family, which also includes the well-known yucca and sansevieria. The plant grows wild in the tropical forests of Africa, where it likely contributes to biodiversity.
Characteristics
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Lemon Lime’ is a remarkable plant, especially due to its colorful leaves. They have a beautiful green color with creamy yellow stripes. Mature plants can reach heights of up to two meters, while younger specimens often range between 50 and 120 cm. The plant has a robust appearance with upright, fleshy leaves.
Care
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Lemon Lime’ prefers partial light, a furnished room temperature, and average air humidity. It is recommended to water the plant regularly and add a bit of fertilizer during the growing season. However, the ‘Lemon Lime’ is also capable of withstanding brief periods of drought. The plant requires little maintenance and can tolerate darkness quite well, making it particularly suitable for indoor cultivation. It is, however, advisable not to move the plant frequently, as it can be sensitive to this.
