Description

Origin
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ originates from West Africa, particularly from countries like Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon. This plant is part of the Asparagaceae family and is a popular indoor plant in many parts of the world.

Characteristics

The Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ is characterized by its shiny, deep green leaves with a leathery consistency. In nature, the plant can reach a height of about 10 to 15 meters, but indoors, it usually measures between 1.5 and 3 meters. The plant’s leaves grow spirally around the stem and can reach up to 60 cm in length. The Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ rarely flowers indoors, but when it does, it produces small fragrant white flowers.

Care

The Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ is a low-maintenance indoor plant and prefers medium indirect light. It can also survive in low-light conditions, though this may slow its growth rate. The plant should be watered regularly, but overwatering can cause root rot. It is therefore advised to only water it again when the top layer of soil is dry. The Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ thrives at ambient temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius and does not tolerate cold drafts.
