Description

Origin
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ originates from West Africa, particularly from countries like Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon. This plant belongs to the Asparagaceae family and is a popular indoor plant in many parts of the world.

Characteristics

The Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ is characterized by its shiny, deep green leaves that have a leathery texture. In nature, the plant can reach a height of about 10 to 15 meters, but indoors it usually measures between 1.5 and 3 meters. The plant’s leaves grow in a spiral around the stem and can reach up to 60 cm long. Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ rarely blooms indoors, but when it does, it produces small fragrant white flowers.

Care

The Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ is a low-maintenance indoor plant and prefers medium indirect light. It can also survive in low-light conditions, but this may slow its growth rate. The plant should be watered regularly, but overwatering can cause root rot, so it is advisable to water it again only when the top layer of the potting soil is dry. Dracaena fragrans ‘Janet Craig’ thrives at ambient temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius and does not tolerate cold drafts.
