Origin
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Burundii’ originates from the tropical regions of Africa. This species from the Dracaena family has spread worldwide over time, thanks to its natural robustness and exceptional beauty. It is particularly popular as a houseplant in temperate climates due to its ability to survive in less favorable conditions.
Characteristics
With its long dark green leaves, the Dracaena fragrans ‘Burundii’ exudes rustic charm. The plant has a more or less branched growth and can reach a considerable height, up to two meters under ideal conditions. The ‘Burundii’ leaves are narrower than those of other Dracaena fragrans species. Over the years, the plant develops a solid trunk that gives it an even more attractive, almost tree-like appearance.
Care
For healthy growth, the Dracaena fragrans ‘Burundii’ requires a brightly lit location, but it also adapts well to partial shade. However, direct sunlight exposure can damage the leaves. The plant needs moderate water and excess water should be avoided to prevent root rot. During winter months, watering can be reduced. The plant needs little specific nutrients and can thrive in a standard potting mix. Regularly cleaning the leaves to maintain their rich and shiny appearance is also recommended.
