Description
Origin
The Dracaena fragrans ‘Black Kanzi’ belongs to the Asparagaceae family and is native to West Africa. Its natural habitat ranges from dry desert regions to humid tropical forests. What is characteristic of these diverse regions is the plant’s resilient ability to survive in different environments.
Characteristics
The Dracaena ‘Black Kanzi’ is a graceful species distinguished by its dark green leaves that appear almost black, hence the name ‘Black Kanzi’. The leaves also have a decorative yellow border. The plant has the unique ability to purify the air and can reach a height of 120 cm in favorable conditions. The plant generally has a slow to medium growth rate.
Care
Due to its tropical origins, the ‘Black Kanzi’ prefers a warm and bright environment, but does not like direct sunlight. The soil should always be slightly moist without water accumulation to prevent root rot development. Like many Dracaena species, the ‘Black Kanzi’ is easy to care for and requires minimal watering once a week. Fertilization once a month during the growing season is sufficient.
