Description

Origin
The Crassula ovata, also known as the Jade Tree, originates from southern Africa. More specifically, in the regions of Mozambique and the eastern provinces of South Africa. It is in these environments that the plant feels most at ease, and that is why it has the ability to survive under extreme drought conditions.

Characteristics

The Crassula ovata is an evergreen plant that belongs to the succulent family. It is characterized by its thick, woody stem and bright green, fleshy leaves that grow in opposite pairs. These leaves are oval-shaped and often have red edges when exposed to high light levels. The plant produces flowers during the winter months; these flowers are typically white or pink and hang in clusters at the end of the branches.

Care

A Crassula ovata requires little maintenance and is ideal for beginner gardeners. They need well-drained soil and a sunny to semi-shaded location. Be cautious with overwatering; it is better to let the plant dry out between waterings. Although the Crassula ovata is frost-resistant, it performs best at temperatures that do not drop below 10 degrees Celsius. Annual fertilization during the growing season can help promote lush growth and flowering.
