Origin
The Cortaderia selloana ‘Mini Silverpampas’ is a variety of pampas grass native to South America. It is mainly found in Argentina and Brazil, but due to its aesthetic value, it can be found in gardens and parks worldwide.
Characteristics
The ‘Mini Silverpampas’ is an ornamental grass distinguished by its long, silver plumes that extend well beyond its narrow green leaves. It can reach a height of 90 to 150 cm, and its blooming period is from August to October. Although the grass appears robust, it is flexible enough to sway with the wind, offering a dynamic element to the garden.
Maintenance
The care of the Cortaderia selloana ‘Mini Silverpampas’ is relatively easy. The plant requires a sunny location and well-drained soil. During drought periods, regular watering is necessary, but it is important for the soil to dry out somewhat between waterings. In winter, the plant can withstand frost, and often there is no need to prune or thin it unless it becomes too large. Old non-flowering clumps can be removed to stimulate the growth of new clumps.
