Description
Origin
The Cortaderia selloana ‘Mini Gold Pampas’, also known as Mini Pampas Grass, originates from South America. It belongs to the genus of plants halvemaankruid, of which it is the most well-known member. This graceful and decorative grass is now cultivated worldwide for its elegant beauty and versatile use in landscape architecture.
Characteristics
The Mini Gold Pampas is a compact variety of Pampas Grass, with shiny golden leaves and soft golden floral plumes that appear at the end of summer. It has an upright and bushy growth that extends up to about 60-90 centimeters in height and approximately the same width. The plumes can add up to an additional 30 centimeters to the total height of the plant, making it ideal for creating an elegant vertical appearance in gardens.
Care
The Cortaderia selloana ‘Mini Gold Pampas’ is a relatively easy plant to maintain. It thrives best in full sun to light shade, in well-drained soil. Once established, it is quite drought-tolerant. Although it offers some resistance to moderate frost, additional protection may be required in extremely cold climates. Pruning in early spring helps promote healthy growth and keeps the plant looking its best.
