Description

Origin
The Coccoloba uvifera, also known as Sea Grape or Uva de Playa, originates from the tropical regions of America and the Caribbean. This particular plant thrives in coastal areas and is generally found on sandy beaches and sand dunes, where it helps combat sand erosion.

Characteristics

The Coccoloba uvifera is a robust and fast-growing plant that can reach up to 8 meters in height. The plant has broad, round, and glossy leaves that provide refreshing shade. Additionally, the Coccoloba uvifera develops clusters of small white flowers, which later in the season turn into small edible purple fruits, resembling the shape and size of grapes.

Care

The care of the Coccoloba uvifera is relatively simple, as the plant is resistant to many different climatic conditions. This plant prefers full sunlight and well-drained soil, but can also survive in the shade. Although the Coccoloba uvifera requires moderate to large amounts of water, it also tolerates drought. This plant requires little pruning and has no specific nutritional needs.
