Origin
The Clusia rosea ‘Princess’ originates from the Caribbean as well as Central and South America. It was mainly found in the tropical forests of these regions. It belongs to the genus Clusia, in the Clusiaceae family.
Characteristics
As the alternative name suggests, one of the remarkable characteristics of the Clusia rosea ‘Princess’ is that the leaves can be used to engrave messages. The plant is valued for its foliage; it has thick, glossy, dark green leaves that can bring contrast to any room. The Clusia rosea ‘Princess’ is a long-lived plant that can grow up to 4 meters high in its natural environment. Indoors, it can reach up to 2 meters in height.
Care
The Clusia rosea ‘Princess’ does not require much maintenance. The plant is drought-tolerant, but during the growing period from April to September, it needs regular watering. It also likes bright places but without direct sunlight and adapts well to an indoor climate. The temperature should remain above 15 degrees Celsius all year round, although a higher temperature is better tolerated. Repotting is only necessary if the plant grows out of its pot.
