Description
Origin
The Cissus rotundifolia, also known as Arabian Wax Leaf, originates from East Africa. Cultivated in countries such as Sudan, Ethiopia, and Yemen, this evergreen plant grows in dry and warm environments.
Characteristics
The Cissus rotundifolia is a compact plant, either trailing or climbing. The leaves are fleshy, round, and shiny, from which its name is derived. The plant can reach a meter in length in the wild and tends to develop trailing shoots. Flowers are rare, but when they appear, they are small and green.
Care
This plant requires well-drained soil and likes full sun to light shade. It is drought-resistant, but regular watering is recommended to promote optimal growth. Fertilize the plant once a month during the growing season. Pruning may be necessary, if needed, to maintain the plant’s shape and prevent overgrowth.
