Description
Origin
The Chamaedorea metallica originates from Central and South America. The plant is mainly found in the tropical forests of Mexico and Guatemala. There, the plant grows in the undergrowth, protected by the leafy canopy of large trees.
Characteristics
The Chamaedorea metallica is a low-maintenance type of palm tree that can reach a height of one meter. It has umbrella-shaped leaves with a unique metallic sheen, hence its name. The leaves are broad and have a deep green color. During blooming, the plant produces small orange flowers that later transform into black fruits.
Care
The Chamaedorea metallica is a shade-loving plant and does not tolerate direct sunlight well. Therefore, it’s an excellent choice for indoor plantings. The plant requires a stable temperature and high humidity to grow well. Regarding watering, it is important to keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid saturating the soil with water to prevent root rot.
