Description

Origin
The Carex oshimensis ‘Evercolor Everillo’ is native to the hills of Japan. The plant is also called the Oshima Sedge, a name attributed to the texture and color of its leaves. It is indigenous to Oshima, an island in Odawara Bay, where it can establish itself in almost any decent forest location.

Characteristics

The Carex oshimensis ‘Evercolor Everillo’ is an elegant evergreen perennial with a compact, low growth pattern. This type of sedge is distinguished by its striking lime green, almost golden foliage. The leaves are long and narrow, often arching, giving the plant an elegant and cascading appearance. In spring and early summer, the plant produces small, inconspicuous brown flowers.

Care

The ‘Evercolor Everillo’ requires minimal care. It thrives best in partial to full shade and tolerates a variety of soil types but prefers well-drained and moist soil. It is drought-resistant once well-established, but prefers regular watering during dry periods. In extreme cold, a layer of mulch can be helpful to protect the roots. This plant does not require intensive pruning. Only occasional care to remove old leaves and keep the plant clean and fresh is needed.
