Description
Origin
The Asplenium antiquum ‘Amy’, also known as the Japanese fern, originates from the tropical and subtropical regions of East Asia. This plant is well known for its ability to grow both on the forest floor and among rocks.
Characteristics
The Asplenium antiquum ‘Amy’ is notable for its clump growth and its glossy, green, lance-shaped leaves. The leaves can reach up to 60 centimeters in length. This fern has an exceptionally low number of spores, which means it propagates mainly through vegetative multiplication. It does not bloom and is primarily appreciated for its lush foliage and the natural, soothing aspect it brings indoors.
Care
When caring for the Asplenium antiquum ‘Amy’, it is important to remember that this plant prefers high humidity and indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. The plant should be watered regularly, but it cannot tolerate waterlogging. Therefore, after watering, any excess water must be removed. During the winter period, it is preferable to place the plant in a cooler spot so it can have a resting phase.
