Description
Origin
The Aralia (Polyscias) ‘Ming’ originates from Southeast Asia, specifically the Pacific region. This exotic plant is part of the Araliaceae family and has several variants, including the ‘Ming’.
Characteristics
The Aralia ‘Ming’ is recognizable by its distinctively shaped dark green leaves, which have an almost architectural appearance. The leaves form dense growth interspersed with fine stems. It is a robust plant that can reach up to 2 meters in height. Although it does not bear flowers, it is a popular choice due to its unique foliage shapes and structures.
Care
The Aralia ‘Ming’ thrives well in a bright location but tolerates partial sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves. Moderate watering is recommended; the roots should never be in standing water as this can lead to root rot. Regular fertilization is beneficial, especially during the growing season in spring and summer. Although this plant prefers a warmer climate, it withstands temperatures down to 10 degrees Celsius.
