Description
Origin
The Aloe red safari, also known as Aloe cameronii, is a plant species native to the dry and semi-dry regions of southern Africa. This plant is mainly found in the wild regions of Zimbabwe and Malawi.
Characteristics
The Aloe red safari is an attractive-looking succulent plant with sharp and red leaves; it is a medium-sized species in the Aloe family. The color change to red occurs when exposed to a substantial amount of sunlight. The leaves can reach up to 30 cm in length, and in the middle of winter, the plant produces long stems with orange to red flowers, highly appreciated by birds and insects.
Care
The Aloe red safari prefers a sunny to semi-shaded spot and tolerates drought very well, but does not like to be in constantly wet soil. It is a winter-hardy plant that can tolerate a light frost. It is recommended to place the plant outside during the summer months and water it only when the soil is completely dry. During the winter months, it is advisable to reduce watering.
