Description
Origin
The Aglaonema ‘Stripes’, native to the humid and shaded forests of Southeast Asia. This includes in particular the tropical and subtropical areas of Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Over the years, it has spread worldwide as a houseplant, thanks to its attractive appearance and easy maintenance.
Characteristics
The Aglaonema ‘Stripes’ is known for its remarkable leaves, with rich chlorophyll green contrasting with light, almost white stripes. The leaves are broad, inversely oval-shaped, and can vary in length up to a maximum of 30 centimeters. The plant remains relatively compact and typically grows to a height of up to 60 centimeters.
Care
The Aglaonema ‘Stripes’ is aptly named regarding its care needs. Generally, the plant prefers a warm and humid climate and indirect sunlight. As it originates from the forest, it can also tolerate low light very well, making it truly shade-loving. Maintenance includes regular watering, especially during the growing period, but be careful not to overwater as it could lead to root rot. Regular application of a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season is also recommended.
