Description
Origin
The Aglaonema ‘Stripes’, native to the humid and shady forests of Southeast Asia, particularly includes the tropical and subtropical areas of Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Over the years, it has spread worldwide as a houseplant due to its attractive appearance and easy maintenance.
Characteristics
The Aglaonema ‘Stripes’ is known for its remarkable leaves, with rich chlorophyll green contrasting with light, almost white stripes. The leaves are wide, inversely oval-shaped, and can vary in length up to a maximum of 30 centimeters. The plant remains relatively compact, usually reaching a height of up to 60 centimeters.
Care
The Aglaonema ‘Stripes’ is reasonably named regarding its care needs. In general, the plant prefers a warm and humid climate and indirect sunlight. As it originally comes from the forest, it can also tolerate low light well, making it a true shade lover. Care includes regular watering, especially during the growth period, but be careful not to overwater as this could cause root rot. Regular application of a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season is also recommended.
