The Aeschynanthus ‘Pink Polka’ belongs to the Gesneriaceae family and originates from the humid tropical forests of Asia. This plant primarily grows in trees, where it roots as an epiphyte in the moist, humus-rich crevices of the bark. The Aeschynanthus is also known as the ‘lipstick plant.’
Characteristics
The Aeschynanthus ‘Pink Polka’ is characterized by its glossy, dark green leaves and its remarkable, brightly colored flowers. The flowers are tube-shaped, bright red in color, and resemble a protruding lipstick in shape and color, hence the nickname ‘lipstick plant.’ The Aeschynanthus typically blooms in summer and extends into early autumn.
