Description

Origin
The Acer palmatum ‘Green’ is a type of Japanese maple that originally comes from East Asia. Japan, China, Korea, and parts of Russia and Mongolia are the specific places where this plant can be found. Gradually, the Acer palmatum ‘Green’ made its way into gardens and landscapes worldwide, thanks to its striking beauty and resilience to various climatic conditions.

Features

The Acer palmatum ‘Green’, also known as the green Japanese maple, is a deciduous shrub or small tree that typically reaches a height between 6 and 10 meters. The leaves resemble palms and are green but change color with the seasons – from bright green in spring to orange and red in autumn. The plant is also known for its striking layered structure and graceful, arching branches that create a kind of dome shape.

Care

The Acer palmatum ‘Green’ thrives best in partially shaded conditions with well-drained soil. Although it tolerates most soil types, it prefers slightly acidic and moist soils. To ensure optimal growing conditions, compost or organic matter should be added annually to the root area. People should also take care that the soil is not too wet, especially in winter, as this can cause root rot. At the same time, the soil should never completely dry out between waterings.
